Some new clients question why we charge a little more then other salons in our area, once they have visited us and experienced our warm and friendly atmosphere, seen the improvement in their hairs condition and look forward to seeing us time and time again, they totally agree that our service is worth every penny. In fact it is my mission to make sure all our clients are 100% happy with their hair not onnly when they leave but throughout the lifetime of your hair cut or colour. If you are not we will correct it for free.
All new clients are requested to visit the salon for a colour consultation at which we test your skin and hair to see what is achievable before starting work on your whole head. We are also always on the lookout for the very best products at the right price so you can be confident in our processes and product advice.
For a salon to charge less they have to be cutting corners, you have to ask yourself where:
Could it be in the quality of the products they use?
It is a common practice to refill the professional product bottle at the backwash with a much cheaper shampoo from the wholesalers...ask any hairdresser if they have refilled a bottle from a gallon container that cost less the £10, FOR A GALLON! I wouldn't use that stuff on my dog!
Could it be the experience of the staff?
Does the salon you go to have a high turn over of staff? Many salons will train up an assistant, get them applying colours or doing all the blow drying then don’t keep them on at the end of their qualification, because they are too expensive on minimum wage, if this is the case then the young girl applying your colour is in experienced, which is fine if there are no problems but what if she mixed up your colour with a higher peroxide because there wasn't any of the correct one left? She thinks it wont make a difference as she doesn't know what that chemical does anyway....
To pay for experienced stylists we now need to pay them much more then these youngsters on minimum wage, wouldn't you agree? With the years of experience and the wealth of courses and knowledge behind them our stylists are well paid and know their stuff, wouldn't you want an expert working on your crown...
Could it be behind the scenes?
All the professional colour providers recommend that we use the correct developer for their colour brand as this improves the quality result of your colour. The matching developer can be four or five times more expensive then the ‘no frills’ developers that are available, but the colour house will not guarantee their colour if the wrong brand of peroxide has been used, that means you are not insured, neither is the stylist.
Could it be that your hair is rushed?
Quality cuts and colours take time, treatments need to be absorbed and colours need time to develop fully, you also need time to relax and unwind. When prices are cheap, salons have to do twice as much in half the time, making you feel rushed, your cut to not be balanced, your colour not to be developed fully and you feel neglected when you leave. A fully staffed hair team should have an assistant with time to give you a relaxing head massage if you like and a receptionist to book in all your appointments and give you hair care advice if you need it, not grab your money and run off to deal with her next client, if you ring to rearrange you shouldnt feel like its a problem because you have pulled that stylist away from her current client. We have a fully staffed team, with assistants and junior stylists who help to look after you on busy days whilst they learn their craft on quiet days, we have a receptionist on our busiest days which means your stylist can concentrate on looking after your hair, not answering the phone!
Do your homework when you choose a salon, pick somewhere with integrity, long standing staff and loyal clients; they stick around for a reason....
